Burgundy-Franche-Comté, land of great wine events
Burgundy-Franche-Comté doesn't just produce some of the world's finest wines: it celebrates them year-round through major wine events. Folk festivals, legendary auctions, estate open days… Here are the unmissable dates for any wine tourism enthusiast.
The Saint-Vincent Tournante, January
This is Burgundy's most iconic wine event. Every January, the Saint-Vincent Tournante pays tribute to the patron saint of winemakers in a different village across the Côte-d'Or, Côte Chalonnaise or Mâconnais. For two days, the host village adorns itself with decorations, opens its cellars and welcomes tens of thousands of visitors to taste wines from across Burgundy.
What makes this event unique: the village atmosphere, the generosity of the winemakers and the chance to taste hundreds of wines in a single weekend. A dream opportunity to discover lesser-known appellations alongside big names.
The Hospices de Beaune Auction, November
Considered the most famous wine auction in the world, the Hospices de Beaune auction has been held every third Sunday of November since 1859. Wines from the Hospices' 60-hectare vineyard estate across the finest appellations are sold by the barrel (228 litres) for the benefit of Beaune's hospital.
The Hospices weekend is also a true festival: tastings across the town, gala dinners, concerts and entertainment. The prices reached at auction serve as a barometer for the Burgundy wine market.
Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne, March (biennial)
Organised every two years by the Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne (BIVB), the Grands Jours de Bourgogne is the largest professional event dedicated to Burgundy wines. Over a week, tastings move from village to village, from Chablis to Mâcon, offering a chance to discover the latest vintage directly at the estate.
Good to know: although aimed at professionals, some tastings are open to the public. An exceptional opportunity for wine enthusiasts wanting to taste the vintage en primeur.
The Fête de la Véraison... and its Burgundy equivalents
While the Véraison is celebrated in the Rhône, Burgundy has its own harvest festivals. In Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Ban des Vendanges officially marks the start of the harvest with a festive ceremony. In Dijon, the Fête de la Vigne et du Vin animates the city centre every year with tasting stands, music and family entertainment.
The Crémant Festival in Châtillon-sur-Seine, April
Crémant de Bourgogne represents a quarter of the region's wine production, and it now has its own festival. The Crémant Festival in Châtillon-sur-Seine celebrates this sparkling wine through tastings, workshops and shows. A perfect opportunity to discover the diversity of Burgundy Crémants.
Estate Open Days, Year-round
Throughout the year, wine estates across Burgundy-Franche-Comté hold open days. It's the chance to visit cellars, meet winemakers and taste vintages still ageing. Villages on the Côte de Nuits (Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée) and the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Pommard) regularly participate in these events.

The Paulée de Meursault, November
Another highlight of the Hospices de Beaune weekend, the Paulée de Meursault is a unique banquet: each guest brings their own bottles to share. This harvest feast, now a high-society event, brings together winemakers, merchants and enthusiasts from around the world for a gargantuan feast.
